1. Introduction

SEO Web Pages are provided subject to Yell's New Media Advertising Conditions. Capitalised terms set out in Yell's New Media Advertising Conditions have the same meanings when used in this service description. In addition:

2. Service Description

We will automatically create and host internet web pages, designed and structured with layouts that allow visitors to view these web pages to learn about your products and services. The pages are also optimised for search engine recognition so the web pages can be indexed in search results by popular search engines. Search engine results are located on the left-hand side and are commonly referred to as "organic listings" or simply "search results".

The SEO Web Pages we create for you will be dynamically generated and will be of general relevance to your area of business. You will be able to select between 6 and 8 bullet points/service attributes. From our list of search engine optimised business functions, we will choose up to five business functions applicable to your business, based on the bullet points/service attributes you provide. We will also select one trading location, which will be the main business address we hold for you.

We will provide:

(i) SEO Web Pages and search engine optimization (SEO)

Your SEO Web Pages include:

  • Your business name
  • One Call Counter Geo™ number, which we will provide (see section 2(ii) below)
  • Your address
  • Map
  • Between 6 and 8 bullet points/service attributes
  • One professional-looking web page for each business function
  • Hosting


(ii) Call Counter Geo™ Service

The SEO Web Pages we create for you will contain a telephone number ("Call Counter Geo Number") for use in your free SEO Web Pages only. Further details of the Call Counter Geo™ Service are set out in Yell's New Media Advertising Conditions.

(iii) Domain Name

The SEO Web Pages we create will have a unique Domain Name. The main reason for using a unique domain name is to help to make sure the pages are optimised for search engine recognition. We manage the administration of the Domain Name with the Registry as part of the Service. Notwithstanding anything in Yell's New Media Advertising Conditions, further details of the terms on which we provide Domain Names are set out in section 3, below.

3. Domain Names

3.1 As part of the SEO Services we shall:

3.1.1 purchase the Domain Name with the relevant Registry;

3.1.2 pay to the Registry the appropriate registration fee and, if appropriate, any renewal fees;

3.1.3 allocate the Domain Name during the term of the Contract; and

3.1.4 arrange for the Registry to:

3.1.4.1 process the application for the registration of the Domain Name and consider whether to accept or reject it in accordance with the criteria laid down in the rules of that Registry in force at the time of the application; and

3.1.4.2 enter the Domain Name and other relevant details in the Register.

3.2 We make no representation that any of your preferred Domain Names are available or capable of being registered. Any action taken by you before notification by us that a Domain Name has been officially registered or before we have received a Certificate is at your own risk.

3.3 Upon written request, we may at our discretion agree to arrange for the renewal of the Domain Name subject to: (i) these Conditions; and (ii) the then current terms and conditions of the Registry in question.

3.4 You acknowledge that we will own the Domain Name.

3.5 We shall have no liability to you in respect of your use of the Domain Name and in particular for any conflict with third party trade marks, registered or unregistered, or any other rights. If any dispute between you and any third party arises, we may withhold, suspend or cancel the Domain Name registration. We may make representations to the relevant Registry but will not be obliged to take part in any such dispute.

3.6 You warrant and undertake that neither the registration of the Domain Name nor the manner in which the Domain Name is used infringes our rights or the rights of any third party. You agree that we may include any trade mark or brand specified by you in the Order belonging to you in the Domain Name during the term of this Contract and after its termination.

3.7 In respect of the application and registration of Domain Names, you will at all times and on demand fully indemnify us, the Registry and the Registry's officers and employees from and against any claim (including reasonable costs and expenses, however they may arise, incurred in defending or dealing with such claim) that the application or registration of the Domain Name or the manner in which the Domain Name is directly or indirectly used infringes the rights of any third party.

3.8 After the expiry or termination of this Contract, in addition to our rights to recover any monies owing to us, you acknowledge that we may, without prior notice to you, surrender or cancel the Domain Name, retain the Domain Name for our own use, or transfer the Domain Name to a third party.

3.9 You acknowledge and agree that in accordance with the relevant Registry's terms and conditions, Registries may cancel the registration or suspend the delegation of a Domain Name in exceptional circumstances by notice in writing to us. We will inform you of our receipt of any such notice. Exceptional circumstances include in particular, where to maintain the registration would put the Registry in conflict with statutory obligations or the terms of a court order or where the registration or use of the Domain Name conflicts with the Registry's rules in force from time to time. In the case of such cancellation or suspension, we will endeavour to procure a new suitable Domain Name for you in accordance with the provisions of this section 3.

4. Amendments to, or cancellation of, your SEO Web Pages

We will notify you of the Domain Name applicable to your SEO Web Pages. It is your responsibility to check that your SEO Web Pages are accurate and comply with Yell's New Media Advertising Conditions. You are solely responsible for all your advertised services and products. If your SEO Web Pages contain one or more errors, you can request corrections to the following by contacting our customer services team during Business Hours on 0800 777 485 or emailing us on service@yellgroup.com quoting your account number:

  • your name, address or bullet points/service attributes;
  • your business functions (up to a maximum of 5).


We will try to correct any errors within 7 days.

If, on viewing your SEO Web Pages, you decide this product is not suitable for your business, you can cancel your SEO Web Pages by contacting our customer services team during Business Hours on 0800 777 485 or emailing us on service@yellgroup.com quoting your account number.

Notwithstanding anything in Yell's New Media Advertising Conditions, if Yell provides your SEO Web Pages on a promotional basis, such SEO Web Pages shall be provided on an "as is" basis with no guarantee, warranty or representation as to quality or accuracy.

5. Rules
  • To qualify for SEO Web Pages on a promotional basis, an advertiser must:
    • advertise in one of Yell's search engine optimised classifications (list available on request); and
    • purchase a 12 month contract for advertising in the Yellow Pages directory, on Yell.com on Yellow Pages 118 24 7 ("Qualifying Advertisements"). Contracts for Keyword Services and Search Marketing Services, and contracts where we make available Advertisements on a Pay-As-You-Go or rolling monthly basis do not qualify.
  • One set of SEO Web Pages per advertiser.
  • We will select up to 5 business functions from our list of search engine optimised business functions, based on the bullet points/service attributes you provide.
  • We will select one trading location only, which will be the main business address we hold for you. No branch locations will be accepted.
  • You must provide a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 8 bullet points/service attributes for inclusion in your SEO Web Pages.
  • You acknowledge that:
    • we cannot guarantee any leads from, or responses to, SEO Web Pages;
    • we cannot guarantee that your SEO Web Pages will be indexed by any search engines or that your SEO Web Pages will appear in any particular position in any search engine results;
      • and
    • our past performance is not indicative of any future results you may experience.
  • You grant us (and third parties working on our behalf) permission to use automated software to retrieve and analyse your SEO Web Pages and any other websites associated with the SEO Services to enable evaluation of Advertisement quality and for serving purposes.
  • Please note that the Consumer Credit Act may apply - please ask your Sales Consultant or see the Advertisement Policy, a copy of which can be accessed on www.yelldirect.com/advertisingpolicy
  • The copyright and all intellectual property rights for all reference material supplied must be owned by or licensed to the advertising company.


This is a minimum period of 12 months, unless provided under a promotional offer. If provided under a promotional offer, we will provide your SEO Web Pages for the term of your Qualifying Advertisements.
