Business Listing Plus

1. Introduction

The Business Listing Plus Advertisement is provided subject to Yell's New Media Advertising Conditions. Capitalised terms set out in Yell's New Media Advertising Conditionshave the same meanings when used in this service description.

2. Service Description

A Business Listing Plus is a Standard Business Listing (Unpaid Listing) on Yell.com that has the capability to include a Business Information Page (BIP). It will be displayed on Yell.com like a Standard Business Listing with the same prominence, but with the additional information on the BIP, a customer will have the ability to showcase their key business information - this information helps users in their decision over whom to contact. Additionally, this content is optimised for search engine recognition, and so provides even more opportunities for the customer's details to feature on search engines.

We will provide:

(i) Business Listing Plus - A Standard Business Listing on Yell.com that has the capability to include a BIP.

(ii) Business Information Page (BIP) - We will include a link to your BIP on your Business Listing Plus, but you must complete the information required via Yell Direct. The following can be included:

  • Up to 20 photos
  • Call to action - 180 characters
  • Business description - 400 characters
  • Products/Services/More Information - 12 bullets (max. 50 characters each)


3. How does Yell.com search work?

3.1 Keyword Search

  • The user searches for a product or service and Search matches this to one or more relevant classifications. Listings are returned in this order:

    •      1.  Sponsored Listings
         2.  Advertiser Listings - Heavyweight
         3.  Advertiser Listings - Mediumweight
         4.  Advertiser Listings - Lightweight
         5.  Standard Business Listings (including Business Listing Plus)

  • Within the above products, listings may be sorted by relevance (this will be done by searching the content of the listing and the advertiser's website)


3.2 Company Name Search

  • The user searches for a company name and results are banded into exact and possible company matches
  • Exact matches are where Yell.com is confident we have returned those results which are the most relevant to the user's search
  • Possible matches would be presented when the results are less relevant to the user's query, for example they may have misspelt your company name. Standard Business Listings (including Business Listing Plus) could appear above paid advertisers in this section


4. What area will the Yell.com Listing cover?

Your Listing will be returned for searches of locations that your address is physically located within - this is determined by information obtained from a number of authoritative sources e.g. Royal Mail

5. Rules

  • Business Listing Plus is only available on a promotional basis.
  • To qualify for a Business Listing Plus on a promotional basis, an advertiser must purchase a 12 month contract for advertising in the Yellow Pages directory and must elect to have SEO Web Pages on a promotional basis ("Qualifying Advertisements").
  • One Business Listing Plus per advertiser.
  • Photos must show your business's premises, products or services. Trade association logos can be used as photos, if the advertiser is a member of that association.
  • Images must be uploaded by the advertiser via self service through www.yelldirect.com.
  • Yell does not provide a design service for the graphical element of this Advertisement.
  • You are not permitted to include an address in a bullet point or free text information.
  • The copyright and all intellectual property rights for all reference material supplied must be owned by or licensed to the advertising business.
  • Please note that the Consumer Credit Act may apply - please ask your Sales Consultant or see the Advertisement Policy, a copy of which can be accessed on www.yelldirect.com/advertisingpolicy.
  • You acknowledge that:
    • we cannot guarantee any leads from, or responses to, Business Listings Plus or BIPs; and
    • our past performance is not indicative of any future results you may experience.

  • You grant us (and third parties working on our behalf) permission to use automated software to retrieve and analyse your BIP to enable evaluation of Advertisement quality and for serving purposes.


This is a minimum period of 12 months, unless provided under a promotional offer. If provided under a promotional offer, we will provide your Business Listing Plus for the term of your Qualifying Advertisements.
