Value Listing

How will it work?

How will a Value Listing work for my business?

Yell.com lets users search for business listings by entering, for example, a product/service and/or company name and location. As a result, people can search for and find the businesses they need in the area they're looking for.

When you buy a Value Listing your business will appear above the free listings and below Priority Adverts. Value Listings are displayed in a random order based on the user's search.
What kind of geographical coverage will my advert get?
Your advert will appear every time a person searches for your type of business in a location that includes your postcode. For example, Yell's office in RG1 7PT falls within the Reading area, so our advert will be seen by people searching for businesses like ours in Reading.

Your advert will also appear when people search for larger areas that include your location. For instance, if your business is based in Preston, you'll appear when someone searches for "Preston", "Lancashire", or "the North West".
What if my business is based in more than one place?
You can buy an advert for each address. This means you can tailor each advert if necessary.
How can I make my advert cover a wider area?
If you would like your Yell.com advertising to cover a wider area, you will need to look at our Priority Adverts.
Can I advertise in more than one classification?
Yes, you can and it's important to ensure that you appear in classifications that are relevant to your business.
Does Yell.com recognise similar and related classifications?
Yell.com understands that people use different words to refer to similar things, for example, "bed & breakfast" and "guesthouse", and provides classifications to satisfy this.

In instances when Yell.com recognises that there's no real difference between classifications, all the relevant ones for a search are included in a user's results.

As an advertiser, this means that you only need to buy one of these classifications, as you'll still appear in results when the other ones are searched for. Related classifications are provided when you buy an advert.
How many different sorts of location does Yell.com recognise?
Yell.com recognises 40,000 UK locations, enabling people to find businesses when searching using the names of:
  • Villages
  • Towns
  • Counties
  • Regions
  • Unitary authorities (e.g. Torbay)
